Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Fiber Technician to support a major data center expansion project focused on outside plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced OSP technicians who enjoy working in the field, leading crews, and playing a key role in large-scale telecommunications and fiber deployments.

We're looking for a hands-on leader who can help organize crews, maintain quality standards, and drive project success while working alongside the team. If you have experience with underground or aerial fiber installations and are looking for strong overtime opportunities and long-term project work, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

• Lead and support OSP fiber installation activities

• Oversee the installation of conduit, innerduct, handholes, vaults, and fiber infrastructure

• Pull, route, and test high-count fiber optic cable

• Support underground and aerial fiber construction projects

• Coordinate with construction teams and project stakeholders on-site

• Perform quality inspections and address installation deficiencies

• Maintain accurate testing documentation and project records

• Participate in project walk-throughs, closeouts, and turnover meetings

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams

• Support moves, adds, and changes (MACs) as required

• Promote and enforce safety standards across the jobsite

What You Bring

• Experience with OSP fiber optic installations

• Experience with underground and/or aerial fiber construction

• Experience working on cable crews pulling high-count fiber cable

• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure

• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Experience coordinating work efforts and leading by example

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and elevated cable pathways

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice to Have

• Fiber termination experience

• Experience with patch panels and punch-downs

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience

• Data center project experience

• Previous crew lead or field leadership experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
