Cable Technician (Entry Level)

About the Role
We are seeking a Cable Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems across a variety of environments, including residential homes, office buildings, and large commercial facilities. This role is critical to ensuring customers receive reliable, high-speed internet, television, and communication services.
This is an entry-level opportunity with hands-on training and growth potential for candidates interested in building a long-term career in telecommunications, fiber optics, or network infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Cable Technician, you will work in the field to install and service modern cable and fiber optic systems. Key responsibilities include:
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic and coaxial cable systems
Perform precise splicing of coaxial and fiber optic cables of various sizes and types
Complete splicing for:
Aerial and underground installations
Span replacements
Single-dwelling units (SDUs)
Small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs)
Relocation and upgrade projects
Identify, repair, and replace damaged or outdated fiber infrastructure
Diagnose and resolve connectivity and signal issues
Perform live splicing on active equipment with minimal service disruption
Measure, test, and document signal strength for internet, television, and phone services
Evaluate job sites and proactively address safety, quality, and installation risks
Maintain accurate records, including network layouts, schematics, and service documentation
Educate customers on installed services and assist with basic equipment setup
Skills & Technical Experience
Cable installation
Fiber Optics / FTTH (Fiber to the Home)
Cat6 cabling
Punchdown blocks
General installation and troubleshooting
Additional Qualifications
1+ year of experience in cable installation or related field preferred (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)
Comfortable using tablets, digital work orders, spreadsheets, and project tracking tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
Strong communication skills; able to interact professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
Calm, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and make decisions in the field
Willingness to work in residential, commercial, aerial, and underground environments
Experience Level

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
