Job Description
Our client has multiple openings for entry-level Cable Technicians to support a large-scale data center build. Technicians will be trained on data center cabling from the ground up and will work alongside technicians and team leads to build out the cabling infrastructure.
This is a hands-on opportunity to learn the telecom trade in a fast-paced construction environment. Most technicians will start by installing cable trays and building server racks, then progress into pulling cable and fiber, learning color codes, and performing terminations.
Primary Responsibilities
Pull copper and fiber cables throughout the data center
Drop cable through walls using fish tape or similar methods
Install cable support systems (cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, trapeze)
Perform pre-termination work (organizing, dressing, labeling, determining slack)
Build and install server racks and pathways
Assist with grounding of racks, equipment, and cabling
Perform fire-stopping procedures (install sleeves, core drilling, pulling cable through penetrations)
Terminate low-voltage cabling as trained
Follow blueprints, prints, and work instructions
Complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, work orders, material transfers, etc.)
Adhere to all safety, quality, and site regulations
Other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements
Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment
Flexible with work hours; overtime expected when projects fall behind
Shifts may extend to 10-12 hours
Up to 6 days per week
Comfortable working in an active construction site
Comfortable working at heights
Ability to handle fast-paced work, organization, and direct supervision
Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
This role offers a great entry point into the telecommunications and data center industry for candidates with little to no prior experience. This hands-on training can lead to long-term career growth supporting major data center clients.
