Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Cable Technician to support structured cabling installations and maintenance within enterprise and hyperscale data center environments in Ashburn, VA. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience working in live data centers, understands industry standards, and can execute work cleanly, safely, and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling (Cat6/Cat6A, single‑mode, and multimode fiber)
Perform cable routing in overhead and under‑floor pathways (ladder rack, basket tray, conduit)
Rack and stack network equipment and install patch panels, switches, and cabinets
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and cable run sheets
Follow data center standards for pathways, bend radius, labeling, and documentation
Perform basic fiber testing (OTDR, power meter, light source) and copper certification
Maintain clean and organized work areas in live data center environments
Comply with all safety, security, and change‑management procedures
Coordinate with project managers, leads, and client personnel
Troubleshoot and repair cabling issues as needed
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a cable technician, with direct data center experience
Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems and industry best practices
Experience terminating fiber (LC, SC) and copper (RJ45)
Ability to work in secure, mission‑critical environments
Comfortable standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, and working overhead
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass background checks and data center access requirements
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI Installer or Technician certification
Experience working in hyperscale data centers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, etc.)
Familiarity with DCIM documentation and cable management standards
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Fiber splicing experience (fusion or mechanical)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
