About the Opportunity
Broadstaff is seeking an experienced
Director of Operations to lead and scale multiple broadband and telecommunications construction operations across several markets. This is a senior leadership role responsible for operational performance, financial results, customer satisfaction, leadership development, workforce planning, and execution across a growing portfolio of projects.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in
fiber, aerial, and underground OSP construction, along with proven experience leading Operations Managers, Construction Managers, and Project Managers across multiple regions. This individual will be responsible for driving performance, developing leaders, improving operational consistency, and ensuring successful project delivery while supporting continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide leadership and oversight for multiple construction operations and project teams across several markets.
- Lead Operations Managers, Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other operational leaders.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and performance standards.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Support underperforming operations through coaching, problem-solving, and corrective action planning.
Financial Management
- Maintain accountability for operational P&L performance.
- Monitor revenue, margins, labor costs, subcontractor spend, and operating expenses.
- Develop forecasts and implement corrective actions when performance targets are at risk.
- Partner with leadership to build operational budgets and financial plans.
Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ensure commitments are met and expectations are clearly communicated.
- Address escalated customer concerns and support strategic account growth initiatives.
Resource Planning & Workforce Development
- Forecast labor, equipment, fleet, subcontractor capacity, and operational resource requirements.
- Develop leadership teams capable of independently managing daily operations.
- Support talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, and leadership development efforts.
Operations Excellence
- Drive operational consistency across markets through standardized processes and reporting.
- Establish key performance indicators and accountability measures.
- Identify operational risks early and implement proactive solutions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, profitability, and scalability.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, customer requirements, company policies, and contractual obligations.
- Hold operational teams accountable for safety, quality, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within telecommunications, broadband, utility, or infrastructure construction.
- Strong background in fiber optic, aerial, and underground OSP construction.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects, operations, and leadership teams across several geographic markets.
- Demonstrated success managing operational P&Ls, budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.
- Experience overseeing subcontractor relationships, performance, and capacity planning.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify operational risks and implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience working with construction management, project management, scheduling, and reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly.
