Mechanical Maintenance Technician - San Diego, CA - 1st Shift
Job Description
Responsibilities
Perform mechanical repairs, installations, and maintenance (preventative and corrective) on yard facilities, utilities, and production equipment.
Utilize mechanical skills to repair or install infrastructure, production equipment, rolling stock equipment, HVAC, diesel engines, conveyance, and automated equipment.
Inspect equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Conduct equipment service and repairs using test equipment, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other power tools.
Complete various required reports and documentation including work orders, inspection forms, discrepancy sheets, logbooks, and service forms.
Carry out installations, repairs, and maintenance on all utility distribution throughout the facilities.
Repair buildings, structures, production equipment, and portable production support equipment.
Diagnose mechanical failures using mechanical knowledge.
Perform additional tasks relevant to the trade as needed.
Essential Skills
3+ years of mechanical maintenance experience working on pumps, piping systems, conveyors, and gearboxes.
High school education with a trade school certificate in mechanical training or equivalent work experience.
Ability to read and comprehend schematics, diagrams, piping plans, and manufacturer-supplied documentation.
Proficiency in using measuring equipment like tape measures, rulers, dial indicators, calipers, depth gauges, and feeler gauges.
Competence in using hand tools and specialized tools such as gear pullers, hydraulic jacks, torque wrenches, and impact wrenches.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Specialized training in diesel engines, automated equipment, or equivalent work experience in a production environment.
Ability to fabricate using cutting techniques is preferable.
Skills in precision measurement and alignment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engine repair and overhaul, and equipment operation.
Capability to work in varied whole body positions, at heights, and in confined spaces with limited visibility.
Flexibility to work any shift and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
