Job Title: Air Compressor Mechanic / Field Service Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on providing field service, maintenance, and repair for industrial air compressors and related equipment. You will work on compressors, pumps, blowers, vacuum pumps, motors, and electrical control circuits, ensuring that customers' systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The position combines hands-on mechanical work with troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems in a variety of industrial environments.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, blowers, and related equipment to maximize uptime and equipment life.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures on industrial air compressors and associated systems.
Install, commission, and start up new compressor systems, ensuring proper configuration, calibration, and performance.
Inspect, rebuild, and replace components such as rods, seals, pistons, o-rings, bushings, hoses, and hydraulic cylinders.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to identify issues, plan repairs, and verify correct system assembly.
Troubleshoot and service electric motors, generators, and electrical control circuits used in compressor and rental equipment.
Work with pneumatic systems, hydraulics, and mechanical power transmission components to identify faults and perform corrective actions.
Use hand tools, measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform accurate, high-quality repairs and assemblies.
Support production and assembly activities related to compressors, pumps, blowers, and associated rental equipment as needed.
Document work performed, including maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and system conditions, in a clear and organized manner.
Communicate effectively with team members and customers to explain findings, recommended repairs, and maintenance needs.
Respond to field service calls with a strong sense of urgency, ensuring timely and professional on-site support.
Essential Skills
Proven mechanical aptitude and strong knowledge of tools used for maintenance, repair, and assembly.
Hands-on experience working with industrial air compressors and pneumatic systems.
Knowledge of electric motors and electrical controls, including the ability to work with control circuits and generators.
Experience with hydraulics and mechanical power transmission components.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Experience working with hoses, hydraulic cylinders, seals, pistons, o-rings, and bushings.
Competence using hand tools and measuring tools in a production, assembly, or field service environment.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures.
Capability to install, commission, and start up new compressor systems in the field.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a field service setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience servicing air dryers, vacuum pumps, blowers, and related industrial equipment.
Rental equipment and industrial power systems.
Comfort working in both shop and field environments with varying types of industrial machinery.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to performing safe, high-quality work.

This is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
