Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Job Description
The Maintenance Manager leads all maintenance activities for plant equipment, machinery, buildings, and property to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role analyzes maintenance needs, prioritizes work, and directs a team of maintenance professionals to minimize downtime and maximize plant productivity. The Maintenance Manager oversees preventive maintenance programs, evaluates and improves maintenance processes, and manages maintenance-related purchasing and budgeting while ensuring a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
Analyze the severity of maintenance problems and prioritize daily emergencies to minimize plant downtime and maximize plant productivity.
Assign maintenance tasks to subordinates and provide clear instructions to ensure timely and effective repairs.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and monitor all repairs for quality, appropriate repair methods, and cost effectiveness.
Perform basic plant and field engineering related to equipment design, fabrication, and installation.
Inspect completed repairs to confirm structural soundness and identify opportunities to improve operations and reduce costs.
Prepare, maintain, and organize blueprints, sketches, and drawings with accurate data and dimensions for plant modifications, new installations, and current applications.
Locate and purchase necessary materials for maintenance repairs, ensuring timely availability of parts and supplies.
Investigate and recommend material substitutions to improve equipment performance and production processes.
Monitor budgetary figures for electrical and mechanical projects and ensure adherence to projected costs.
Maintain an active cost reduction program by tracking past projects, evaluating new ideas, and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
Screen all maintenance and electrical purchase requests and communicate with suppliers regarding availability, costs, quality, and potential substitutions.
Track purchases from initiation through delivery, storage, use or installation, and payment approval to ensure accurate documentation and control.
Generate, track, and maintain paperwork for all electrical and mechanical items purchased, including equipment history and documentation.
Ensure a safe working environment for plant maintenance employees, contractors, and visitors by promoting and enforcing safety practices and standards.
Coordinate and schedule equipment and facility shutdowns with the production department to minimize disruption to operations.
Review production records for daily equipment usage and analyze equipment utilization to identify opportunities to improve productivity.
Provide overall direction and guidance to employees engaged in maintaining plant equipment, machinery, buildings, and property.
Train, supervise, and support Maintenance Technicians, including coaching and developing their technical and professional skills.
Troubleshoot and support resolution of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management to support plant operations and maintenance objectives.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in maintenance management within an industrial or plant environment.
Strong supervision and leadership skills with the ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
Hands-on experience with electrical systems, troubleshooting, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Proficiency in preventive maintenance planning and execution for plant equipment and facilities.
Ability to provide direction and guidance to employees maintaining plant equipment, machinery, buildings, and property.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting and maintenance support.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members, suppliers, and other departments.
Good computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to manage, direct, and develop effective leadership within the maintenance team.
Capability to analyze equipment usage and maintenance data to improve equipment utilization and reliability.
Ability to work flexible hours, be on-call, and travel occasionally as required by plant operations.
Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, blueprints, and equipment history records.
Budget awareness and the ability to adhere to cost projections for electrical and mechanical projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate individuals at all levels within the maintenance function.
Experience coordinating equipment and facility shutdowns with production teams.
Familiarity with cost reduction programs and continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance operations.
Comfort working with suppliers to evaluate availability, cost, quality, and substitution options for maintenance materials and equipment.
Ability to read, interpret, and maintain blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings for plant modifications and installations.

Work Environment
This role is based in a plant environment that can be hot and physically demanding. You will spend significant time on the production floor, around machinery, equipment, and industrial systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled equipment. The work involves coordinating with production teams, planning equipment and facility shutdowns, and overseeing maintenance activities in real time. You will use computer systems such as Microsoft Office and potentially SAP for planning, documentation, and reporting. Flexible hours, occasional on-call duties, and some travel may be required to support plant operations and respond to maintenance needs promptly.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
