Job Title: Truck Body Installer
Job Description
The Truck Body Installer assembles and upfits truck bodies onto chassis, focusing on mechanical, fabrication, hydraulic, and electrical systems rather than engine or drivetrain repair. This role uses a wide range of tools and equipment to mount subframes, side beds, and related components according to detailed blueprints and specifications, while performing custom modifications to meet specific customer and vehicle requirements.
Responsibilities
Install truck bodies onto chassis by mounting subframes, side beds, and related components in accordance with blueprints, assembly specifications, and work instructions.
Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and shop equipment to complete truck upfitting and assembly projects safely and efficiently.
Perform custom mechanical work to modify, fit, and adjust components based on customer needs and vehicle configurations.
Install, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, hoses, valves, and control systems to ensure proper operation.
Wire and connect electrical systems for truck bodies, ensuring correct operation of lighting, controls, switches, warning systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Fabricate, cut, fit, and assemble steel and aluminum components for truck body installations and custom modifications using appropriate tools and techniques.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and written work instructions to guide accurate assembly and ensure full functionality.
Focus on truck body installation, fabrication, hydraulics, and electrical systems, without performing engine or drivetrain repair work.
Perform service and new install work on truck bodies and related systems, diagnosing issues and completing repairs as needed.
Apply mechanical troubleshooting skills to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical problems during installation and service work.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience working as a mechanic.
Minimum of 2 years demonstrating strong mechanical inclination, including the ability to troubleshoot and fix mechanical issues.
Ability to install and service truck bodies and related mechanical systems.
Proficiency using impacts and socket sets, including larger sizes such as 5/8" and 1/2".
Capability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and work instructions.
Experience working with hydraulic components such as cylinders, pumps, hoses, valves, and control systems.
Ability to wire and connect electrical systems, including lighting, controls, switches, warning systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ownership of essential tools, including impact tools and socket sets.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
MIG welding experience preferred, including basic fabrication and repair work.
Experience in automotive or diesel technology is beneficial.
Experience with both new installations and service work on mechanical systems.
Ability to work independently while following technical documentation and specifications.
Comfort working with steel and aluminum components for cutting, fitting, and assembly.
Attention to detail to ensure safe, functional, and high-quality installations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
