JOB SUMMARY
Directional Boring Operators, Cable Technicians and General Laborer's will work together to install underground utilities and network infrastructure. Crews will use trenchless directional boring techniques. Specifically, this crew will operate boring equipment and safely install conduit, pipe, and cable beneath roadways, sidewalks, and obstacles. Ideal candidates will practice safety first and be technically defined to work with underground infrastructure, and construction utilities.
DUTIES
Operate directional boring equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications.
Work beneath roads, sidewalks while minimizing surface disruption.
Perform pilot bores, reaming, and pull‑backs for conduit, pipe, or cable installation.
Read and interpret utility locates, bore profiles, and construction drawings.
Safely identify and avoid existing underground utilities.
Set up, operate, and maintain boring equipment and tooling.
Coordinate with ground crews, locators, and supervisors to ensure safe operations.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized job site.
Complete daily production and safety documentation.
Follow all company, OSHA, and site‑specific safety policies.
Assist directional boring and HDD operators during drilling operations.
Perform job site setup and cleanup, including loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment.
Hand‑dig entry and exit pits as needed.
Support potholing and utility exposure activities.
Assist with mixing and handling drilling fluids ("mud").
Pull conduit, pipe, or cable during bore operations.
Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
Perform traffic control and site safety tasks when required.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
Assist with equipment maintenance and daily inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience operating directional boring equipment preferred
Knowledge of underground utility installation methods
Ability to read utility locates and job plans
Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Outdoor construction sites
Physical labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Travel is required depending on project locations
Food and lodging paid for by the company, no out of pocket expense
$25-$50/day per diem

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
