Job Title: Cable Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on pulling, installing, and terminating low voltage cabling in both expansion projects and new building construction. The cable technician supports the installation of structured cabling systems, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient setup of CAT5 and CAT6 cables in an active construction environment.
Responsibilities
Pull low voltage cables for expansion projects and new building installations in industrial, construction, and commercial settings.
Set up, route, and secure cables through cable trays and other pathways according to project specifications and blueprints.
Terminate and cap cables, including CAT5 and CAT6, ensuring clean, reliable connections that meet quality and safety standards.
Assist with cable installation tasks as an installation helper, including labeling, organizing, and bundling cabling.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to support cable pulling, cutting, fastening, and termination activities.
Read and interpret basic construction drawings and blueprints to determine cable routes and installation requirements.
Support the installation and cabling of low voltage systems such as fire alarm and other building systems as directed.
Troubleshoot basic cabling issues, including continuity problems and improper terminations, and assist in resolving them.
Follow all safety procedures while working on an active construction site, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Coordinate with supervisors and team members to ensure work progresses on schedule and meets project standards.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools, equipment, and materials with care.
Provide professional references who can speak to prior experience in industrial, construction, or commercial environments.
Essential Skills
At least 2+ years of experience in low voltage cabling or a closely related cable installation role.
Demonstrated experience as a cable puller or cable technician in industrial, construction, or commercial settings.
Strong knowledge of low voltage wiring and cabling practices.
Ability to pull, route, and set up low voltage cables safely and efficiently.
Working knowledge of CAT5 and CAT6 cabling, including installation and basic termination.
Ability to terminate and cap cables accurately and neatly.
Basic proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in cabling and construction work.
Familiarity with reading and understanding construction blueprints or drawings.
Experience working around cable trays, cable installation, and cable termination in a construction environment.
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills related to cabling issues.
Safety-oriented mindset and consistent adherence to safety procedures on active construction sites.
Ability to provide references who can confirm experience in industrial, construction, or commercial environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in construction or commercial cable installation is preferred.
Exposure to fire alarm cabling or other low voltage building systems is an asset.
Experience working as an installation helper on cabling or electrical projects.
Familiarity with general construction practices and working alongside other trades.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow direction from supervisors.
Strong attention to detail when routing, labeling, and terminating cables.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
