Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees a wide range of maintenance activities across all departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment and facilities. This role performs and coordinates basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic work, supports troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and helps implement effective solutions. The position requires a hands-on, self-directed professional who learns quickly, maintains strong attention to detail, and consistently upholds safety and housekeeping standards while supporting production, preventive maintenance, breakdown response, and facility projects.
Responsibilities
Perform and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic plumbing issues to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
Support production by responding promptly to breakdowns, equipment failures, and urgent maintenance requests across all departments.
Execute and support preventive maintenance (PM) programs, including inspections, adjustments, component replacements, and documentation of work performed.
Work with large machinery and component equipment, ensuring proper operation, adjustment, and repair in a manufacturing environment.
Assist in reading and interpreting schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to diagnose issues and guide repair and installation activities.
Perform component failure analysis to determine causes of equipment issues and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, using PLC diagnostic tools and methods to resolve control and automation problems.
Work safely with 480V 3-phase electrical systems, following appropriate safety procedures and standards.
Use computer applications, including Microsoft software, to record maintenance activities, track work orders, and support PM scheduling.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety protocols and ensuring proper use of tools and equipment.
Collaborate with production and other team members to prioritize maintenance work, coordinate downtime, and support on-time delivery.
Adapt to changing priorities and learn new equipment and systems quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Provide occasional leadership and guidance to others by sharing knowledge of maintenance best practices and safe work methods.
Work overtime as needed, including extended hours during peak periods, to support production, PMs, breakdowns, and facility projects.
Essential Skills
One to two years of work experience in a maintenance or related role, or equivalent experience preferred.
At least 1 year of PLC troubleshooting experience (required).
At least 2 years of experience working with 480V 3-phase electrical systems (required).
At least 2 years of manufacturing maintenance experience (required).
Hands-on experience working in an electrical environment with component equipment and large machinery.
Proficiency in preventative and corrective maintenance practices in a manufacturing setting.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Experience using and supporting a preventive maintenance (PM) program.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints (preferred but highly beneficial).
Basic proficiency with Microsoft computer applications for documentation and communication.
Ability to perform component failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various individuals in a team setting.
Self-directed work style with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with aluminum extrusion processes and equipment is a plus.
Familiarity with extrusion presses and related mechanical systems is beneficial.
Current certifications related to maintenance, electrical, or industrial systems are a plus.
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial environment.
Exposure to using computer-based maintenance management or PM tracking systems.
Strong electronic problem-solving skills and comfort working with control systems.
Ability to communicate clearly with production, engineering, and other support teams.
Willingness to work overtime regularly, with a typical workweek of approximately 55 hours.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility specializing in aluminum extrusion for a wide range of consumer and industrial end uses, including pipe, bar, and rod products. The facility is older, and the environment is dirty and non-climate controlled, with temperature and conditions varying by season. Forklifts frequently move between indoor and outdoor areas, resulting in some dirt and forklift tracks inside the plant. The role is hands-on and shop-floor based, requiring comfort working around heavy machinery, moving equipment, and industrial noise. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Thursday from 4:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a typical workweek of about 55 hours including expected overtime. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practical work attire suitable for an industrial setting are required.
