Jacobs is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor, based in El Segundo, CA, to provide direct, day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel engaged in maintaining process equipment, RHTE equipment, and facility infrastructure at the Edward C. Little Water Reclamation Facility. This position ensures maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently, and in direct support of Operations priorities.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor translates plans and schedules into effective field execution, coordinates closely with Operations, and ensures maintenance tasks are completed as requested to maintain operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and treatment performance. Operations is the customer, and the Maintenance Supervisor reinforces this principle through daily actions and decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Frontline Maintenance Supervision & Execution
Supervise and direct daily work activities of maintenance personnel, including mechanics, electricians, instrumentation technicians, and specialists.
Assign work based on skills, qualifications, priorities, and operational needs.
Ensure maintenance tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with procedures, standards, and job plans.
Provide real-time field leadership, troubleshooting support, and technical guidance to maintenance staff.
Verify completed work meets quality expectations and operational requirements before returning equipment to service.
Reinforce that maintenance work exists to support Operations reliability and treatment performance.
Coordination with Operations
Serve as a primary day-to-day maintenance contact for Operations personnel.
Participate in daily coordination meetings and shift handoffs to understand operational needs and priorities.
Coordinate equipment outages, lockout/tagout, and access requirements with Operations.
Adjust work execution as needed to respond to emergent operational issues while minimizing impacts to plant operations.
Planning, Scheduling & Work Control
Execute maintenance work in accordance with approved schedules and job plans developed by Maintenance Planning.
Review work orders prior to execution to confirm scope, safety requirements, parts, tools, and coordination needs.
Provide feedback to the Maintenance Manager and planners on job plan accuracy, resource needs, and opportunities for improvement.
Accurately document labor, materials, findings, and follow-up actions in the CMMS.
Identify and communicate emergent work or scope changes promptly.
Safety & Compliance
Actively promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
Enforce all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, and job hazard analysis.
Conduct job briefings and ensure hazards are identified and mitigated before work begins.
Stop work authority: intervene and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
Support environmental compliance through proper execution of maintenance on treatment and support systems.
RHTE, Process & Facility Maintenance
Supervise maintenance of treatment process equipment, RHTE systems, and supporting facility infrastructure.
Ensure maintenance activities align with manufacturer recommendations, operational requirements, and regulatory standards.
Monitor condition of equipment and facilities, identifying early signs of failure or degradation.
Recommend corrective actions, repairs, or improvements to improve reliability and safety.
Parts, Materials & Field Readiness
Ensure maintenance crews have correct parts, materials, tools, and equipment before starting work.
Identify missing or incorrect materials and coordinate with the storeroom or supervisors to resolve issues quickly.
Verify parts are installed correctly and are compatible with equipment specifications.
Support cost control by preventing rework, damage, or incorrect installations.
Workforce Development & Performance
Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel through on-the-job training and knowledge sharing.
Support qualification, certification, and cross-training efforts to build workforce flexibility.
Monitor individual and crew performance and provide constructive feedback.
Communicate expectations clearly and consistently regarding safety, quality, and professionalism.
Contractor Support
Provide field oversight of contractor work as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Ensure contractors follow safety rules, plant procedures, and approved scopes of work.
Coordinate contractor activities with Operations and in-house maintenance staff.
Report contractor performance, safety issues, or scope concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade certification preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of industrial or municipal maintenance experience, including lead or supervisory responsibilities.
Experience in wastewater treatment, water reclamation, RHTE systems, or similar industrial facilities preferred.
Working knowledge of CMMS work orders, maintenance documentation, and basic planning concepts.
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment typical of a water reclamation facility.
Proven ability to lead and motivate frontline maintenance personnel.
Ability to execute work safely and effectively in a continuously operating environment.
Strong communication skills with maintenance staff, Operations, supervisors, and contractors.
Detail-oriented with a focus on job quality, safety, and operational impact.
Clear understanding that Maintenance supports Operations and exists to meet operational needs.
