Cable Technician - META Data Center (Altoona, Iowa)
*Overview: A major construction contractor supporting a large hyperscale data center project in Altoona is seeking experienced Cable Technicians to join its technology infrastructure team. This position involves installing, testing, and maintaining structured cabling systems within a high‑security, mission‑critical environment. Candidates should be detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and comfortable working in fast‑paced industrial settings.
*Responsibilities
Install, route, and secure structured cabling including Cat6, fiber optic, and low‑voltage systems
Terminate, label, and test copper and fiber cables following TIA/EIA standards
Interpret construction drawings, cable routing diagrams, and project specifications
Build and install cable pathways including ladder racks, tray systems, and containment
Operate cable testing equipment such as OTDRs, certifiers, and continuity testers
Document cable runs, test results, and installation progress accurately
Assist with troubleshooting and resolving cabling‑related issues
*Qualifications
Experience in low‑voltage installation, structured cabling, telecom, or related fields
Proficiency with copper and fiber termination methods
Ability to work in large industrial or data center environments
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work on elevated platforms
Must pass back ground checks required for data center access
*Schedule & Work Environment
Full‑time, long‑term project work
Daytime shifts with potential overtime based on project needs
High‑security environment requiring badge access and adherence to strict protocols

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
