Job Description
This role involves operating a variety of heavy equipment to support civil construction and site development projects, with a strong focus on storm drainage, pipe installation, trenching, sewer work, and grading. You will work on public and private site work, including site development and construction preparation, while helping the team achieve daily production goals safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, dozers, front-end loaders, skid steers, rollers, and other site development machinery to complete daily production goals
Perform storm drainage and sewer system work, including trenching, storm drain installation, pipe installation, and related utility construction tasks
Carry out grading, fine grading, and earthmoving activities for site and land development, roadwork, and civil construction projects
Support site work and construction preparation, including drainage, paving, and concrete foundation work as required
Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints to understand project requirements and execute work accurately
Use GPS-based equipment (such as Trimble systems) for grading and excavation when available, following project specifications and grade tolerances
Conduct basic pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on assigned equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to complete tasks in accordance with project plans, safety standards, and schedule requirements
Work safely in and around trenches, utilities, and active construction areas, maintaining awareness of surroundings and equipment movements
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders
Demonstrated experience with grading, site work, earthmoving, and finish work on civil construction or similar projects
Ability to pass pre-employment screenings as required
Ability to pass a practical skills test for heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, and loaders
One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR at least six months of related experience and/or training; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Previous experience in civil construction, utility construction, or related heavy equipment operation environments
Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions and coordinate with team members
Ability to understand and carry out detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions

Work Environment
Work is primarily performed on active construction sites within approximately a 50-mile radius of Sanatoga, Pennsylvania. Projects include public and private site work, such as site development, construction preparation, trenching, drainage, grading, paving, and concrete foundation work. The role requires daily commuting directly to job sites, with work taking place outdoors in all weather conditions; there are generally no weather-related days off unless communicated on the job. The environment involves regular exposure to outside weather, vibration, and loud noise, as well as frequent exposure to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The position is physically demanding, involving frequent sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling materials, as well as occasional walking, climbing, and balancing while lifting up to 50 pounds. Operators use a range of heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, loaders, and other civil construction machinery, and may work with GPS-enabled systems such as Trimble for grading and excavation. Appropriate PPE is required and must be worn as directed to ensure safety on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Easton, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
