Job Description
Responsibilities
Assemble, install, and customize a variety of heavy-duty work truck bodies and equipment.
Install service bodies, platforms, van packages, hoists, shelving, drawer systems, and ladder racks.
Perform mechanical assembly work using hand tools, power tools, and other mechanical tools.
Assist with final stages of installation, ensuring all accessories are installed or properly stowed per installation instructions.
Install and test 12-volt electrical components and circuits, including automotive and vehicle electrical systems.
Install hydraulic systems and perform basic plumbing-related work, including fluid systems, hose, and fitting installation.
Read and interpret mechanical prints, electrical prints, blueprints, work instructions, and installation directions.
Follow manufacturing instructions and assembly procedures to complete assigned installations on schedule while maintaining quality standards.
Test completed equipment before the final product audit to verify proper operation and completeness.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical installation issues and perform basic diagnostics to resolve problems.
Assemble chassis and complete final assembly tasks such as loading fire extinguishers and placing floor mats.
Wash and clean cars and trucks in the final stage, including wiping down interiors and ensuring vehicles are clean for delivery.
Prepare trucks for Quality Control and assist QC as needed to confirm trucks are complete, clean, and meet quality standards.
Perform general labor tasks related to chassis work and basic automotive service such as oil changes.
Handle materials safely and lift items up to 50 lbs as required in daily work.
Maintain workplace safety, follow OSHA awareness guidelines, and adhere to shop safety practices.
Support 6S and 5S workplace organization and lean manufacturing principles to keep the work area clean and efficient.
Collaborate in a team environment with other install technicians, communicating effectively to coordinate work.
Contribute to a well-organized production line by following established processes and meeting daily installation targets.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly in a production or shop environment.
Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical tools for installation and assembly work.
Ability to install and test 12-volt electrical components, circuits, and DC electrical systems.
Experience with automotive wiring, vehicle electrical systems, and harness installation.
Capability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical prints.
Skill in following work instructions, installation directions, manufacturing instructions, and assembly procedures.
Mechanical troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics abilities to resolve installation issues.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control and quality assurance standards.
Ability to perform basic plumbing and fluid system work, including hose and fitting installation.
Understanding of workplace safety, OSHA awareness, and shop safety practices.
Familiarity with 6S and 5S workplace organization and lean manufacturing principles.
Physical ability to perform material handling tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
Capability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional colleagues.
Baseline mechanical experience and comfort with repetitive mechanical tasks on a production line.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with truck equipment installation, truck upfitting, and vocational truck equipment assembly.
Experience in mechanical installation, equipment assembly, and component installation for commercial vehicles.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems installation and basic plumbing-related work on vehicles or equipment.
Experience preparing vehicles for quality audits and supporting quality control processes.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned installations on schedule while maintaining quality standards.
Experience washing and detailing vehicles, including exterior washing and interior cleaning.
Familiarity with general labor tasks related to chassis work and basic automotive maintenance such as oil changes.
Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with clear instructions and production goals.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
