We are seeking an experienced Fiber Technician to support fiber and telecommunications operations throughout Central and Northwest Louisiana. This is a hands-on field position responsible for troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of telecommunications field experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the flexibility to work outdoors, travel as needed, and respond to outages or emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot telecommunications circuits and equipment to identify malfunctions.
• Test newly installed or upgraded equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with specifications.
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace telecommunications equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot and identify fiber-related issues.
• Analyze test readings, computer data, and trouble reports to determine repair needs.
• Modify or adjust equipment to improve performance or meet customer requirements.
• Follow work orders and diagrams when changing circuit layouts or connections.
• Interact professionally with customers, explain equipment operation, and respond to questions or concerns.
• Safely operate company vehicles, including trucks and trailers.
• Support emergency restoration efforts during network outages and natural disasters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of field experience as a telecommunications technician.
• Working knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
• Ability to travel up to approximately 20% based on business needs.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
• Ability to support a 24/7/365 operation, including emergency schedules during outages and natural disasters.

Preferred Experience
Familiarity with fiber optic cable and fiber infrastructure is preferred, including experience identifying and troubleshooting fiber issues, using telecommunications testing equipment and hand tools, and safely operating trucks and trailers.

Physical & Work Environment
This is a physically demanding field position requiring the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, stand and walk for extended periods, climb poles and ladders, work at heights up to 50 feet, lift up to 50 pounds, perform overhead lifting, bend, kneel, squat, reach, push and pull, work on uneven terrain and in confined spaces, and safely use hand tools and field equipment.
