We are seeking a motivated Construction Project Manager with a Mechanical Engineering background to join our team at SIRIS to support a Hospital Recovery and Renovation project with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Montgomery, AL. This role reports to the Program Director and collaborates with VA client staff to support construction activities, generate reports, and serve as a client-side representative.
Position Description:
The Mechanical Construction Manager will provide leadership, mentorship and project and/or construction management for construction of new ground up construction. The Mechanical Engineer provides decisive direction regarding business, technical, and personnel management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities. The Mechanical Engineer will be required to learn, teach, and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality, and operations in the healthcare environment. The Mechanical Engineer will lead a team of professionals and act as an advisor/liaison to the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The project may require off-hour work during construction to minimize the impact on medical center operations.

Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
· 6 years’ experience of design and construction experience.
· experience reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions.
· experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions.
· experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.
· Knowledge of all aspects of commercial mechanical construction including but not limited to underground mechanical installation, medical gas systems, domestic water systems, chilled water systems, and steam systems.
· Knowledge of low Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, testing and balancing, operations, sheet metal duct systems and control systems including direct digital controls.
· Knowledge of conveying systems including electric dumbwaiters and materials lifts, electric traction elevators, hydraulic elevators, pneumatic tube systems, and uniform dispensing equipment.
· It is preferred that the CM-ME have knowledge of mechanical design and installation for specialized medical and laboratory equipment including but not limited to MRI, PET, CT, audiometric booths, fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, and sterilization equipment.
· Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for the structural contract modifications.
· Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
· Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.
· Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.
