Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor leads a small team of maintenance technicians in a food manufacturing environment, ensuring reliable operation of production equipment and supporting continuous, safe, and efficient plant operations.
Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment such as mixers, conveyors, packaging lines, refrigeration systems, and other food processing equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production flow.
Partner closely with production and operations teams to prioritize maintenance activities and support peak seasonal demand.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OSHA requirements, and internal safety standards.
Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance supplies, and vendor relationships to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs to support reliability tracking and regulatory compliance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness.
Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects, including coordinating with external contractors when needed.
Use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment to perform repairs and adjustments on production machinery.
Support PLC troubleshooting activities and collaborate with technical resources for more complex automation issues.
Provide on-call support and fill in for team members when necessary to maintain adequate coverage across shifts.
Essential Skills
4-5 years of experience as a maintenance supervisor, leading and coordinating a maintenance team.
3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, working under GMP standards.
Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs for production equipment such as mixers, conveyors, packaging lines, and refrigeration systems.
Ability to perform and oversee maintenance work using a variety of hand tools and maintenance equipment.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements in a production environment.
Knowledge of OSHA and general industrial safety practices and the ability to enforce them on the floor.
Experience managing maintenance documentation, including work orders, equipment logs, and maintenance records.
Willingness to be on call and provide coverage or fill in for other team members as needed.
Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with production and operations teams.
Ability to lead a small maintenance team of approximately 3-4 people in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bilingual communication skills.
Experience working with baking, dairy, or confectionery equipment, particularly in a GMP food manufacturing setting.
Knowledge of PLC programming concepts and the ability to support PLC troubleshooting.
Experience participating in or leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and cost reduction.
Prior involvement in equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.

Work Environment
This role is based in a GMP-compliant food manufacturing facility that produces candy apples and other treats. The maintenance team is small, typically 3-4 people, which provides a close-knit, collaborative environment where you work directly with production and operations. You will work around mixers, conveyors, packaging lines, refrigeration systems, and confectionery processing equipment, following GMP and food safety standards at all times.
