Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Communications Technician II to join a growing team supporting structured cabling and low-voltage installations in a construction environment. This is a hands-on role for an experienced technician who is ready to step into a leadership capacity-overseeing small crews, ensuring quality execution, and driving projects to successful completion.

What You'll Do
As a Communications Technician II, you will play a key role in both technical execution and team coordination:
Technical Responsibilities
Perform testing on horizontal and riser cabling (continuity testing, troubleshooting faults such as opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs)
Utilize tools such as volt-ohm meters and tone sets to diagnose and identify circuits
Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, etc.)
Rack and stack equipment and install cable pathways in commercial construction settings
Identify active voice and data circuits
Leadership & Coordination
Lead small teams of installers and ensure daily work is completed safely and efficiently
Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices and job site standards
Coordinate manpower and timelines to meet project deadlines
Act as a liaison between the field team and customer representatives
Documentation & Compliance
Complete all project documentation accurately and on time (timesheets, work orders, material transfers, etc.)
Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and industry standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
What We're Looking ForRequired Experience
Minimum 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or a related technical field
Strong background in:
Cable installation and terminations
Testing and troubleshooting
Rack & stack and structured cabling systems
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project documentation
Understanding of industry-standard color codes
Leadership Skills
Experience leading or supervising small teams preferred
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently while supporting team success
Education & Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements
Willingness to travel within the region as needed
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
Comfortable working:
At heights (ladders, lifts)
In confined spaces
Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and hear audible signals
Work Environment & Schedule
Work is performed in active construction environments
Available shifts:
1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
2nd Shift: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Flexibility is highly preferred as schedules may vary based on project needs

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
