The Cable tech I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems and related equipment. This role supports project execution by ensuring quality installations, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Install work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls
Terminate CAT3, CAT5, and CAT6 jacks
Properly mount faceplates and surface mount boxes
Perform cable pulls and support structured cabling installations
Install and mount backboards, racks, cross-connects, and patch panels
Install fiber optic hardware and associated equipment
Ensure proper grounding of racks, equipment, and cabling
Complete all IDC terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels)
Perform continuity testing on horizontal and riser cables
Use testing tools such as a volt-ohmmeter and tone set
Identify and resolve cabling issues including opens, shorts, crossed, and transposed pairs
Identify active voice and data circuits
Qualifications
Experience with structured cabling systems
Knowledge of CAT3, CAT5, and CAT6 installations
Proficiency with cable termination and punch-down techniques
Familiarity with telecommunications and low-voltage systems
Data center experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
Lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Ability to distinguish colors and read small print
Ability to hear and recognize audible signals
Willingness to travel within assigned territory

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
