Role Overview
TEKsystems is supporting hiring an Experienced Cable Technician to work in live hospital and medical facility environments. This role is ideal for someone with a strong voice and data cabling foundation who wants hands-on exposure to healthcare-critical systems, including Nurse Call and BDA/Public Safety infrastructure.
You'll begin by performing structured cabling work while being trained on systems that directly impact patient safety, clinical workflows, and emergency responder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, test, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
Read and interpret:
Construction blueprints
Hospital drawings
Low-voltage schematics
Lead and mentor technicians while maintaining healthcare-grade workmanship
Install and support structured cabling pathways:
J-hooks
Cable tray
Conduit
Work within:
MDFs and IDFs
Equipment rooms
Patient care and clinical areas
Support infrastructure for:
Nurse Call systems (patient-to-staff communication)
BDA/DAS systems (public safety and first-responder coverage)
Coordinate closely with:
SWC Project Managers
Hospital IT and Facilities teams
Maintain strict adherence to:
Safety standards
Cleanliness requirements
Infection-control protocols
Required Skills
Structured cabling installation experience
Voice and data cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A)
Blueprint and schematic interpretation
Experience working in regulated or high-accountability environments
Ability to work independently and support junior technicians
Preferred (Not Required)
Previous hospital or healthcare facility experience
Exposure to:
Nurse Call systems
BDA/DAS or life-safety infrastructure
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, or healthcare safety training
Experience Level: Intermediate

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
