Job Title: Traveling Low Voltage Cable Technician
Job Description
This is a trainable, entry-level Traveling Low Voltage Cable Technician role supporting national data center projects, including new builds, expansions, and MAC work. The position is ideal for individuals with basic hand and power tool experience who are eager to develop a career in the low-voltage trade. You will receive comprehensive training in structured cabling, fiber, copper, and data center standards while working on large-scale, cutting-edge facilities across the United States. This role requires extensive travel, with a recurring schedule of six weeks on the road followed by one week at home.
Responsibilities
Support lead and senior technicians with the installation of fiber optic cabling inside data center environments.
Pull, route, dress, and label cables in overhead trays, ladder racks, and underfloor systems.
Assist with terminations, testing, and certification of cabling systems under the guidance of senior technicians, with training provided.
Install and organize patch panels, racks, cabinets, and cable management hardware to meet data center standards.
Perform basic MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) work, including patching, device swaps, labeling, and documentation.
Use basic hand tools and power tools such as drills, snips, and tape measures safely and correctly.
Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow all safety procedures and data center protocols.
Travel with project teams to customer sites across the United States on a 90-100% travel schedule.
Represent the company professionally while working inside hyperscale and enterprise data centers.
Follow instructions from lead technicians, communicate clearly with team members, and contribute to a positive, safety-focused work environment.
Essential Skills
Experience using basic hand tools and power tools, such as drills, snips, and tape measures.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn technical tasks quickly.
Electrical aptitude and interest in working with low-voltage systems.
Strong interest in the low-voltage trade and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in physically active environments.
Ability and willingness to travel 90-100% of the time on a recurring schedule.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Ability to follow safety procedures and data center protocols consistently.
Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work a 5x10 schedule (five 10-hour days).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Any prior exposure to low-voltage, structured cabling, telecom, or electrical work.
Familiarity with Cat6 and Cat6A cabling, including routing and patching.
Basic understanding of fiber optic cable and related components.
Experience with data cable installation in environments such as data centers, warehouses, construction sites, or other technical facilities.
Experience reading basic construction drawings or cable routing diagrams.
Familiarity with access control systems and low-voltage devices.
Experience with troubleshooting low-voltage or cabling issues.
LEA Apprentice experience or interest in pursuing LEA/LEB certification, with the understanding that out-of-state hours will count toward these credentials.
Comfort working in large-scale, mission-critical environments such as major data centers.

Work Environment
You will work primarily inside large, modern data centers, including high-profile facilities that operate around the clock. The environment is highly technical, structured, and safety-focused, with established protocols for working around sensitive equipment and cabling infrastructure. The role follows a 5x10 schedule, typically five 10-hour days per week, within a recurring cycle of six weeks traveling followed by one week at home. This is a 90% traveling position, with all travel expenses paid, including hotels and daily per diem while on the road. Work is physically active and may involve standing for long periods, working on ladders and lifts, and maneuvering cabling in overhead trays, ladder racks, and underfloor systems. You will regularly use hand and power tools and will work closely with lead technicians as part of a collaborative project team in mission-critical data center environments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
