Summary:
The Technical Field Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for new and existing FTTH Technicians through high-quality, hands-on instruction. This role ensures technicians gain the knowledge and skills needed to install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic systems and equipment. Key responsibilities include creating training materials, conducting classes, and assessing trainee performance. This position plays a vital role in equipping industry professionals to work safely, efficiently, and effectively while promoting customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions on fiber optic internet installation techniques.
Demonstrate and coach students on proper installation and troubleshooting procedures.
Identify and correct improper skills during training to ensure quality standards.
Model adult learning principles across varied training environments, including instructor-led, video, and web-based training.
Facilitate engaging sessions using effective questioning, listening, and feedback techniques to foster a safe learning environment.
Understand business processes and how they relate to on-the-job application for technicians.
Design training curriculum for web-based and in-person courses.
Facilitate workshops and hands-on exercises covering FTTH installation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
Develop instructional materials, manuals, and occasional video content to support training objectives.
Implement training policies and procedures in alignment with company standards.
Deliver product-specific training on fiber optic installation and related systems.
Instruct on fiber optic fundamentals including installation, termination, splicing/fusing, and troubleshooting using testing equipment.
Maintain and set up training equipment and materials to ensure successful outcomes.
Enforce OSHA safety protocols and promote compliance throughout training.
Mentor new technicians to develop skills for entry-level fiber optic installation roles.
Conduct field studies and provide on-site instruction by traveling with technicians.
Provide post-training guidance and technical support to installer teams.
Maintain accurate training records including attendance and performance tracking.
Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, installer networks, and stakeholders to enhance program adoption.
Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and instructional methods.
Travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight, to deliver training sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Education, or related field preferred.
Certification in fiber optic installation or related discipline preferred (e.g., FOA, ETA, or similar).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds during training and field demonstrations.
Frequent travel to training sites, customer locations, and field installations.
Exposure to outdoor conditions and occasional work at heights or in confined spaces.
Use of standard safety equipment and adherence to company and OSHA safety policies required.
