The State of Minnesota - Direct Care & Treatment is now hiring an HVAC Technician to service our multi-building campus, which houses The Forensic Mental Health Program and The Minnesota Sex Offender Program. This position is crucial to ensuring our refrigeration systems perform optimally while adhering to high standards of performance and compliance. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Repairing and maintaining air handling equipment, refrigeration, A/C and chiller units and keeping accurate records for preventative maintenance and regulatory agency mandates.
Coordinating and directing the mechanical operation of various HVAC and refrigeration systems
Testing and calibrating all controls on HVAC equipment
Attending in-service classes and remaining up-to-date regarding new technology on related tools, equipment, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) issues and pollution control standards
Minimum Qualifications

Possess a Class D Driver's License
Possess an EPA 608 Universal Certificate
Minimum of two years experience in each of the following areas:
Working from blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other plans and specifications to independently construct, assemble, and install refrigeration equipment.
Working on commercial, industrial, and institutional refrigeration, including centrifugal chiller maintenance and repair.
Basic electricity and electrical, solid state control systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS) controls and sensors.
Analyzing HVAC or refrigeration malfunctions from performance and test equipment readings and determining appropriate repairs
Preferred Qualifications
5 years experience working on commercial, industrial, and institutional refrigeration, including centrifugal chiller maintenance and repair.
Special Engineer License working with low pressure steam or hot water boiler systems
Knowledge of Air Handlers and VAV systems
Knowledge of gas train systems on heating system, Roof Top Units and Hanging Garage Heaters and forced air furnaces.
