Job Description
We are seeking reliable and safety-focused Cable Technician I (Spotter) professionals to support structured cabling and low-voltage construction projects in data center environments. This role is primarily responsible for acting as a spotter for installation crews, ensuring safe work practices and supporting technicians during the installation of cable infrastructure.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to enter the telecommunications or low-voltage construction industry. Previous experience with fiber optics, Cat5/Cat6 cabling, or cable tray installation is helpful but not required.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Serve as a spotter for cabling and construction crews working in active jobsite environments Maintain awareness of personnel, equipment, and surrounding work areas to promote safe operations Assist technicians with material handling and jobsite organization Support structured cabling installations, including fiber optic, Cat5, and Cat6 infrastructure as needed Help with basket tray installation and cable pathway preparation Communicate effectively with crew leads and project teams regarding site conditions and safety concerns Follow all site safety policies and procedures Maintain a dependable attendance record and arrive ready to work each day
Skills and Requirements
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Ability to work in an indoor construction environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and working on active construction sites Basic understanding of construction site safety High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience 6 months to 1+ year of construction, telecommunications, electrical, or low-voltage experience Experience with fiber optic cabling Experience pulling Cat5/Cat6 cable Experience working around cable tray or basket tray systems Data center or commercial construction experience
