Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Technician II / Fiber Splicer to support fiber optic infrastructure projects across client environments. This role is heavily focused on hands-on fusion splicing and fiber troubleshooting, and candidates must have proven experience performing high-volume, production-quality fusion splicing in the field. The Technician will be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining fiber optic networks while operating with moderate independence. This individual will support project delivery, mentor junior technicians, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure successful execution. The ideal candidate is an experienced fiber professional with a strong background in fusion splicing, fiber testing, and fiber network deployments.
Skills and Requirements
2-3+ years of hands-on fiber optic experience with extensive fusion splicing experience Demonstrated experience performing fusion splicing in both single-mode and multimode fiber environments Strong experience reading and interpreting splice diagrams, fiber schematics, test results, and technical documentation Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, routing, termination, and cable management Experience performing fiber testing and troubleshooting utilizing OTDRs, power meters, light source meters, VFLs, and fiber certification equipment Strong understanding of fiber optic network standards, pathway installation, and industry best practices Associate's degree or equivalent technical/military experience Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, and fiber distribution systems Familiarity with both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) fiber environments Experience with structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber infrastructure *OSHA, CFOT, BICSI, FOA, NFPA 70E, or other relevant safety/industry certifications
