Job Title: Cooling Tower Technician
Job Description
This role supports the construction, erection, installation, fabrication, cleaning, and repair of a wide range of cooling towers at utility and manufacturing sites. The Cooling Tower Technician works with minimal supervision, follows detailed instructions, and completes assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining high quality standards. The position involves frequent travel to project locations and requires comfort working outdoors, at heights, and in physically demanding conditions.
Responsibilities
Assist with the construction, erection, installation, fabrication, and repair of cooling towers at various project sites.
Support the installation of mechanical equipment such as motors, fans, gear boxes, drive shafts, mechanical supports, and fan stacks.
Assist with selecting appropriate lumber and other materials needed for each assigned job.
Help prepare layouts using rulers, tape measures, framing squares, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure precise dimensions.
Assist with shaping materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, grinders, and other hand and power tools.
Support the assembly of cut and shaped materials to build structural and mechanical components of cooling towers.
Assist with piping and nozzle installation within cooling tower systems.
Help with the erection of structural frameworks and supports according to project specifications.
Work safely at heights while maintaining 100% tie-off and following all fall protection procedures.
Use hand tools and power tools, including saws, drills, wrenches, and power washers, to complete assigned tasks.
Perform general labor duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, climbing, and carrying materials as needed.
Support troubleshooting activities related to cooling tower structures and mechanical components under guidance from experienced personnel.
Participate in cleaning, repair, and retrofit activities on cooling towers at utilities and manufacturing plants.
Follow all safety protocols, including fall protection, confined space procedures, and site-specific safety rules.
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding work progress, scheduling needs, and travel availability.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
Essential Skills
Experience performing general labor in construction or industrial environments.
Ability to use hand tools such as saws, drills, wrenches, rulers, tape measures, framing squares, and calipers.
Ability to use power tools, including grinders and power washers, in a safe and controlled manner.
Comfort working at heights with 100% tie-off and following fall protection procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and noise, for extended periods.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
Strong interest in pursuing a construction-related career and learning new trades.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay away from home for 14 weeks at a time when required.
Capability to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks without constant supervision.
Reliable communication skills to coordinate schedules, time off, and project assignments with management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience working with cooling towers is a plus.
Experience in HVAC is a plus.
Experience troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues in an industrial or construction setting is beneficial.
Willingness to complete safety essentials training provided by the employer.
Willingness to complete fall protection training provided by the employer.
Willingness to complete confined space training provided by the employer.
Willingness to complete OSHA 10 training, which is paid for by the employer.

Work Environment
The role is field-based and primarily on-site at utilities and manufacturing plants where cooling towers are cleaned, repaired, and retrofitted. Technicians work outdoors and in plant environments, often exposed to bad weather, excessive heat, and noise. The job requires frequent work at heights with 100% tie-off, as well as regular lifting, bending, and climbing. Hand tools and power tools, including saws, drills, wrenches, grinders, and power washers, are used daily. Travel is a regular part of the job, with assignments that may keep technicians away from home for 14 weeks at a time, as well as occasional local projects that do not require overnight stays. The longer a technician is away on assignment, the more time off they may receive between projects, such as a weekend after shorter jobs or up to a week off after longer deployments. Hotel accommodations, travel time, and per diem are provided for qualifying travel assignments. Communication about preferred time off and scheduling needs is encouraged so management can plan project staffing effectively. The work attire is typical of industrial and construction environments, requiring appropriate safety gear and compliance with site-specific safety requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
