Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Shipboard Fiber Optics Technician to support cable installation and modernization projects aboard Navy and maritime vessels. This individual will perform hands-on shipboard work including pulling, routing, terminating, and securing fiber optic and copper cabling, building connectors, and supporting electrical and communications system upgrades. Candidates will receive specialized fiber optic training and work alongside experienced technicians to become fully qualified in turnkey fiber optic installations. Once productive, there will be opportunities to travel to customer sites nationwide in support of ongoing projects. The hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm with mandatory overtime depending on project needs. The pay rate for this role is dependent on experience and is $30-38/hr

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of shipboard electrical experience

Active Secret Clearance

Experience pulling, routing, and installing cable aboard ships

Ability to perform hands-on physical work in industrial/maritime environments.

Willingness to obtain fiber optic certifications and complete technical training

Ability to work overtime as needed

Openness to travel 75% of the time Marine Electrician, Electronics Technician (ET), Electrician's Mate (EM), Aviation Technician (AT), or IC/ICMM background

Fiber optic installation or termination experience

Connectorization experience

Multi-pin connector experience

RF systems experience
