Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Fiber Installation Technician to support large-scale data center projects in Cedar Rapids. This role focuses on installing and routing fiber optic cabling and pathway systems such as innerduct, MaxCell, and microfiber in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
Responsibilities
Manage crews to install and route fiber optic cable, innerduct, and conduit throughout the data center campus and underground pathways.
Safely pull and secure cabling through manholes, handholes, and conduit systems.
Read and interpret drawings, cable maps, and work instructions.
Ensure installations meet company standards and safety requirements.
Label, document, and maintain accurate records of completed work.
Collaborate with project teams to meet timelines.
Essential Skills
Experience in low voltage, quality inspection, and quality control.
Proficiency in installing, pulling, and routing fiber cable in conduit, innerduct, and pathway systems like MaxCell.
Ability to read and interpret cable maps, riser diagrams, and construction drawings.
Knowledge of cable handling, including pulling tension, bend radius, and proper cable management.
Capacity to work in confined spaces, follow strict safety protocols, and handle physically demanding tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1-3 years of fiber installation experience, preferably in OSP or data center environments.
Experience with cable pulling tools and pathway systems such as MaxCell and innerduct.
Ability to work in confined spaces, outdoors, and secure environments.
Valid driver's license and ability to pass a experience check.

Work Environment
Work in a fast-paced, high-security data center environment that requires badge access. The role involves a mix of indoor data hall work and outdoor campus/underground pathway tasks. Expect exposure to mechanical rooms, cable vaults, manholes, and confined spaces. This physically active role requires standing, climbing, and lifting throughout the day. The schedule averages 50 hours per week, with overtime as needed to meet project timelines. Work may involve varying weather conditions when outdoors. The team-oriented setting necessitates close coordination between installers, splicers, and construction crews. Adherence to strict safety protocols and site cleanliness standards is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $93600.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
