The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports a highly automated distribution environment by performing advanced repair, maintenance, and optimization of material handling and robotic systems. This role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of conveyors, pneumatic systems, and electro-mechanical equipment through comprehensive troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Responsibilities
Support the Operations Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment, including automated conveyor systems and pneumatic systems throughout the facility.
Install, configure, and replace components such as photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to minimize equipment downtime and maintain high levels of operational efficiency.
Complete assigned preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on conveyors and related equipment, ensuring work is performed in accordance with quality predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
Provide detailed feedback on preventive maintenance tasks and recommend improvements to maintenance programs and processes.
Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs on material handling equipment and automated control systems.
Apply electrical and electronic principles to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and applicable safety standards.
Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, update, and close work orders, document maintenance activities, and track parts and equipment history.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, track maintenance metrics, and communicate with stakeholders regarding maintenance activities and equipment status.
Coordinate and communicate with multiple stakeholders, including operations and safety teams, to plan and execute complex maintenance activities with minimal impact on production.
Collaborate with vendors as needed for specialized repairs, parts sourcing, and technical support.
Act in a team lead capacity when required, supporting, training, and mentoring less experienced technicians to build technical capability within the maintenance team.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and overall facility performance.
Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to different work areas and shifts as required by operational needs.
Essential Skills
Minimum 4+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventive maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
At least 4+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
4+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
4+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of material handling equipment systems.
4+ years of experience working with MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM and relevant safety standards.
At least 3+ years of experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders and maintenance documentation.
Minimum 1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
Hands-on experience with automated conveyor systems, including motors, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, and controls.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large, highly automated distribution facility featuring high-speed equipment and extensive robotic components. Work is data-driven, with performance tracked through systems and metrics to ensure expectations are clear, without micromanagement. The environment involves significant walking, with the expectation of covering approximately 10,000 steps per day, and the ability to move up to 49 pounds at a time. Technicians work around conveyors, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, PLC-based controls, and robotic equipment. All candidates must be open to any 10-hour shift, with positions available across multiple shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and should be comfortable adapting to different work areas as operational needs change.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr.
