About the Opportunity
Broadstaff is seeking experienced
Telecommunications Fiber Migration Technicians to support a national telecommunications infrastructure program involving network consolidation, customer migrations, central office modernization, and data center projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for technicians with strong fiber optic experience who enjoy travel and want to work on large-scale carrier network projects. Technicians will support fiber migrations, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting in active telecommunications environments throughout the United States.
We are looking for professionals who are comfortable working independently, troubleshooting network issues, and supporting critical customer migration activities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform fiber optic testing using OTDRs, power meters, and fiber scopes
- Analyze testing results and identify fiber impairments, loss events, and bends
- Trace, label, and document fiber circuits
- Support customer migration and network consolidation activities
- Install, route, and manage fiber cabling within central offices and data centers
- Perform fiber troubleshooting and circuit verification
- Support maintenance windows and migration cutovers
- Maintain accurate project documentation and testing records
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and network operations teams
- Assist with telecom equipment decommissioning when required
What We're Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of telecommunications field experience
- Fiber optic installation, testing, and troubleshooting experience
- Experience using:
- OTDR
- Fiber Scope
- Optical Power Meter
- Experience working in:
- Central Offices (CO)
- Data Centers
- Telecom Facilities
- Ability to read network drawings and fiber documentation
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Ability to climb ladders and work in overhead and under-floor fiber pathways
Preferred
- Advanced OTDR troubleshooting skills
- Lumen, CenturyLink, Level 3, AT&T, Verizon, or carrier network experience
- DWDM transport experience
- SONET and Ethernet network knowledge
- Customer migration experience
- Site consolidation or network modernization project experience
