Entry-Level Cable Technician (Contract-to-Hire)

We are seeking motivated, dependable individuals who are eager to learn and grow as Entry-Level Cable Technicians. This role is ideal for candidates who have completed a low-voltage trade school program or have some exposure to construction, cabling, or telecommunications work and want to develop a long-term career.
This position offers hands-on training, advancement opportunities, and exposure to commercial cabling projects across the Austin area.
Responsibilities
As a Cable Technician I, you will support experienced technicians and assist with commercial structured cabling installations by:
Pulling and routing copper and fiber cabling
Assisting higher-level technicians with installation projects
Loading, unloading, and handling materials on job sites
Operating hand and power tools safely
Climbing ladders and working at heights when required
Installing cable tray, wireway, conduit, and related infrastructure
Building and organizing telecommunications closets
Mounting backboards, racks, patch panels, and hardware
Performing cable terminations and punch-downs on patch panels and blocks
Installing grounding systems for telecommunications equipment
Supporting wire-pulling and conduit installation activities
Maintaining job-site safety standards and cleanliness
Following project specifications and supervisor direction
Required Qualifications
Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
Trade school graduates with low-voltage, telecommunications, or electrical training are highly preferred
Basic understanding of cabling, construction, or telecommunications environments
Reliable transportation to project sites in the Austin area
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
OSHA 10 Certification or ability to obtain before starting
Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn
