The Opportunity
The Senior Service Technician is a highly skilled field service professional responsible for independently installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Smurfit Westrock equipment. This role serves as a trusted technical resource for customers, delivering exceptional service, training, and support while ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. The position requires extensive travel and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in customer environments.
Key Responsibilities
Independently install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot Smurfit Westrock equipment.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently and accurately.
Perform machinery audits, preventative maintenance, repairs, and service visits.
Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
Clearly communicate repairs performed and provide preventative maintenance recommendations.
Conduct customer exit reviews to ensure satisfaction and alignment on completed work.
Complete service reports, customer documentation, signatures, and expense reports accurately and on time.
Proactively communicate service status, issues, and recommendations to Service Management.
Adhere to safety standards, utilization targets, and company service expectations.
Support customer operations while maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical expertise.
What You Need to Succeed
2-5 years of mechanical, maintenance, or field service experience.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electrical systems.
Ability to work independently and manage service activities with minimal supervision.
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
Solid understanding of OSHA requirements and site-specific safety procedures.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
Ability to travel extensively and adapt to changing customer schedules.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet travel requirements.
Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel & Work Environment
Up to 70-80% domestic travel required; occasional international travel may occur.
Travel may include:
Short service calls across multiple customer locations.
Extended assignments typically lasting 1-2 weeks.
Work schedules may vary based on customer production needs and may occasionally include off-shift support.
