Overview:
The Appliance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment and beverage dispensing systems. This position supports the safe and reliable operation of the park's food service facilities by ensuring all kitchen and beverage equipment remains operational and compliant with applicable health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including:
Ovens (convection, deck, combi)
Fryers
Grills and griddles
Steamers
Warmers and holding cabinets
Dishwashers and warewashing systems
Refrigeration and freezer equipment
Ice machines
Food preparation equipment (mixers, slicers, processors)
Install, service, and maintain soda dispensing systems, including:
Carbonated beverage dispensers
Bag-in-box syrup systems
Carbonators
Beverage pumps and regulators
CO₂ systems and distribution lines
Beverage cooling systems
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and document findings.
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, and refrigeration schematics.
Troubleshoot equipment utilizing electrical meters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic tools.
Repair and replace motors, pumps, valves, thermostats, heating elements, sensors, control boards, and related components.
Ensure equipment complies with manufacturer specifications, health department requirements, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventories.
Coordinate with Food & Beverage Department personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
Recommend equipment upgrades and replacement strategies when repairs are no longer cost-effective.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining commercial food service equipment.
Demonstrated experience servicing soda dispensing systems and beverage equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Strong knowledge of:
Electrical systems (120V, 208V, 240V, 480V)
Plumbing systems
Gas-fired equipment
Refrigeration systems
Mechanical troubleshooting techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certification.
CFESA (Commercial Food Equipment Service Association) Certification.
Manufacturer certifications for commercial kitchen equipment or beverage dispensing systems.
Experience in theme parks, hotels, casinos, institutional food service, hospitals, or large-scale commercial kitchens.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple work orders in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting.
Ability to work on ladders and access equipment in elevated locations.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and confined environments.
This position operates in the Park's commercial kitchens, restaurants, concessions, food courts, catering facilities, and beverage service areas where exposure to heat, steam, water, grease, cleaning chemicals, and refrigeration equipment is common. Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
