Job Description
A client of Insight Global is looking for 2 Fiber Splicing Technicians to join their team based out of Abilene, TX. The Fiber Optic Splicing Technician is responsible for performing mid- to advanced-level fiber optic splicing and testing activities, including single-fiber and basic ribbon splicing. This role supports the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks by utilizing Visual Fault Locators (VFLs), power meters, and other specialized testing equipment. The technician assists with troubleshooting efforts, equipment setup, and project execution while maintaining accurate documentation of splice records, test results, and project activities. Responsibilities also include the proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance of Fujikura 90R fusion splicers and related tools and equipment. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols and industry standards, including TIA-568, IEC, and Telcordia guidelines, while consistently demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct, and operational excellence. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support project and business objectives.
Pay Ranges from $25.00/hr-$40.00/hr.

Skills and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, or related work preferred.
- Proficient in working with 200-micron ribbon fiber and foundational data center network architectures such as Base-16.
- Strong attention to detail, quality work and willingness to learn advanced techniques.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record and ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to travel locally and overnight as needed, ability to work 12 hour days. - Basic knowledge of fusion splicers (Fujikura, Sumitomo) preferred.
- Technical certifications are a plus.
