About the Role
We are hiring experienced
Telecommunications Field Technicians to support a major
network decommissioning and power-down program for a Tier 1 carrier.
This is a hands-on, field-based role working inside
Central Offices (COs) and telecom facilities, identifying and safely powering down legacy network equipment.
If you have experience with
transport networks, central office environments, and legacy telecom systems, this is a great opportunity to work on a high-impact national program with long-term potential.
What Youâll Be Doing
- Perform site surveys and equipment audits inside telecom facilities
- Identify and validate legacy equipment (active vs inactive)
- Execute safe power-down (decommissioning) procedures on telecom gear
- Work with network operations to prevent service disruptions
- Trace and tag fiber, copper, and cabling
- Document all work performed (photos, reports, asset tracking)
- Prepare equipment for downstream removal and recovery teams
What Weâre Looking For
Required Experience
- Experience working in a Central Office (CO) or telecom network environment
- Background with telecom equipment decommissioning, provisioning, or maintenance
- Knowledge of:
- TDM, SONET, or DWDM networks
- Ability to work independently in live network environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DC power systems / battery systems
- Hands-on work with equipment such as:
- Cisco, Ciena, Adtran, Fujitsu, Lucent, Nokia
- Background with major carriers:
- AT&T, Verizon, Lumen, CenturyLink, etc.
- Experience with:
- Circuit turn-ups / turn-downs
- Network migrations
- Asset recovery or inventory tracking

- Wireless tower climbers only
- Fiber installers without Central Office experience
- OSP construction techs without network equipment experience
Travel & Schedule
- Travel required across Ohio (and potentially other states)
- Overnight stays and multi-week assignments possible
- 40 hours per week.
