Job Description
The Low Voltage technician installs, terminates, and tests structured cabling and fiber optic systems to support reliable voice, data, security, and low-voltage infrastructure. This role works hands-on in commercial and industrial environments, routing cabling, setting up network equipment, and ensuring all installations meet project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A, in accordance with project requirements.
Perform fiber optic installation, termination, and splicing using fusion or mechanical methods.
Run and route low-voltage cabling through walls, ceilings, conduit, and cable tray systems in compliance with NEC and project specifications.
Install and terminate patch panels, racks, jacks, and network equipment to support network and low-voltage systems.
Test and certify copper and fiber cabling using appropriate testing equipment such as OTDRs and power meters.
Support the installation and setup of low-voltage systems including fire alarm, CCTV, and access control solutions.
Pull, label, and organize cabling to maintain neat, professional, and serviceable installations.
Work safely at heights using ladders, lifts, or scaffolding while following all safety procedures.
Access ceilings, crawl spaces, equipment rooms, and confined areas to complete cable routing and terminations.
Lift, carry, and install equipment and materials weighing approximately 20-50 lbs as part of daily tasks.
Collaborate with team members and follow project plans, drawings, and specifications to complete assignments on schedule.
Document test results and installation details as required by project and company standards.
Essential Skills
Ability to perform fiber optic installation, termination, and splicing using fusion or mechanical methods.
Knowledge of running and routing low-voltage cabling through walls, ceilings, conduit, and cable tray systems in accordance with NEC and project specifications.
Capability to regularly lift, carry, and install equipment and materials weighing approximately 20-50 lbs.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Work Environment
This role follows a Monday through Thursday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with opportunities for overtime on Fridays. Work takes place in field and jobsite environments where you will frequently work at heights using ladders or lifts and access ceilings, crawl spaces, equipment rooms, and other confined areas. The position requires regular lifting, carrying, and installation of equipment and materials weighing approximately 20-50 lbs. You will use a range of tools and test equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and standard hand and power tools for low-voltage work. Travel to different job sites is preferred but not required, offering variety in day-to-day work locations.

The pay range for this position is $35000.00 - $45000.00/yr.
