Cable Technician - Level II or III
Location: Des Moines, Iowa (with out-of-state travel involved in the future)
-Position Overview
This role is suited for experienced Cable Technicians at the Level II or Level III skill tier. The position focuses on structured cabling and data/fiber installation in commercial environments. Candidates must bring at least two years of consistent experience in data and fiber work and be open to travel when required. Pay is based on experience, with higher skill levels earning higher starting wages.
-Compensation & Travel
Pay: $24+/hour (higher starting wage for advanced experience)
Lodging: Provided when traveling
Per Diem: $50/day
Travel: Required as needed for project demands
-Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling systems
Perform fiber splicing, connector installation, and troubleshooting
Read and interpret cabling layouts, floor plans, and technical documentation
Install cable pathways, racks, ladder trays, patch panels, and related infrastructure
Conduct cable certification, labeling, and documentation
Ensure all work meets industry standards and project specifications
Maintain safe work practices and adhere to job‑site protocols
Collaborate with project leads and support Level I technicians when needed
-Required Qualifications
Must be a Level II or Level III Cable Technician
Minimum 2+ years of consistent data/fiber installation experience
Proficiency in fiber termination, testing, and troubleshooting
Experience with copper cabling, pathways, and structured cabling systems
Ability to work independently and follow technical direction
Willingness to travel for projects as required

Strong understanding of industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI practices)
Ability to operate testing equipment such as OTDRs and certifiers
Reliable, professional, and safety‑focused work habits
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
