Equipment Operator
The starting pay rate for this position is $38.13/hour, followed by an increase to $40.03/hour after completing probation (six months).
Colorado Springs Utilities' Water Construction and Maintenance team is hiring an Equipment Operator to support our crews by safely operating a variety of equipment, as you assist with water maintenance and repair projects and emergency response efforts. Our team is responsible for maintaining physical assets (e.g., water mains, valves, hydrants) used to distribute water to the community.
A day in the life of an Equipment Operator may include:
Operating a wide variety of equipment for routine maintenance and repair projects, including, but not limited to: rubber tire backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, and construction hand tools
Following safety rules and company standards
Performing general labor activities for installation, maintenance, and repair projects as needed
Performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment
Assisting in setting up job sites
Who You Are:
Demonstrated experience in operating a wide variety of equipment (e.g., backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, dump trucks)
Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required to perform the essential functions of this position
Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is valued, or the ability to obtain one in the future
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess for Heavy Work.Positions in this class typically require exposure in all weather conditions.
