Job Description
This role focuses on installing, assembling, and wiring specialized equipment on work trucks, ensuring each vehicle is safe, functional, and ready for demanding job sites. You will use your mechanical aptitude to read blueprints and work instructions, perform precise installations of truck bodies and components, and complete thorough testing and inspections to verify quality and performance.
Responsibilities
Install and assemble equipment on work trucks, including beds, plows, tool boxes, mud flaps, crane holders, ramp holders, and tail lights.
Assemble and securely bolt tool boxes and truck boxes to the back of trucks according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and diagrams to install hydraulic equipment and related components on trucks.
Perform wiring tasks as needed, including basic electrical and 12V wiring when applicable.
Conduct testing and inspections on all installed equipment to ensure proper operation, safety, and quality standards.
Use hand, power, and air tools to complete mechanical and assembly work accurately and efficiently.
Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues during installation and make appropriate adjustments or repairs.
Measure and mark installation locations using a tape measure and other measuring tools to ensure precise fitment.
Follow work instructions and schematics to complete assembly and wiring tasks in a consistent and repeatable manner.
Lift, move, and position parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily installation activities.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely at all times.
Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues, delays, or quality concerns to ensure projects stay on track.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of mechanical aptitude or experience in a related field such as auto mechanic, diesel mechanic, military mechanic, industrial mechanic, construction heavy equipment operation, truck rebuilding, farm equipment repair, maintenance, machine building, or crane installation.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, work instructions, and diagrams for mechanical and hydraulic installations.
Proficiency using hand, power, and air tools for mechanical assembly and installation work.
Ownership of basic hand tools, including SAE socket sets from 1/4" to 1" and metric socket sets from 10mm to 25mm.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for layout and installation.
Capability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties.
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in assembly, troubleshooting, and basic wiring.
Familiarity with work instructions, diagrams, schematics, and electrical assembly processes.
Ability to perform wiring tasks as needed and follow schematics where applicable.
Use of steel toe or composite toe safety shoes while on the job.
Comfort working with hand and power tools in a production or shop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with 12V wiring is a plus.
Exposure to hydraulic systems and installations is beneficial.
Experience in vehicle upfitting, truck body installation, or similar work is an advantage.
Experience working in a mechanic bay, shop, or industrial environment.
Ability to adapt to both heavy-duty and light-duty assembly work depending on skill and experience level.

Work Environment
This is a full-time day-shift position, typically working from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role is offered as a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, with openings available for both heavy-duty (more experienced) and light-duty (less experienced assembler) work. The setting resembles a mechanic bay, where conditions can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so you should be comfortable working in a shop environment that reflects seasonal temperatures. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, air tools, and measuring devices, and you will work around hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical systems. Steel toe or composite toe safety shoes are required as part of the dress code, and you will work in a hands-on, physically active environment focused on truck body and equipment installation.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
