A Senior Facilities Technician performs fabrication, installation, maintenance and major repairs. Maintains the operation of all building equipment, accessories, and components; which may include lab-related equipment. Works with contractors as needed to complete necessary work.
Performs fabrication, installation, maintenance, and major repairs. Maintains the operation of all building equipment, accessories, and components.
Responsibilities include maintenance, repairs, and operations of pollution control equipment and accessories, and/or other lab-related equipment.
Responsible for various duties in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), building automation, programmable logic controllers, mechanical, chemical, electrical disciplines and pollution control.
Assists in training and supervision of others in the use of building equipment and components and operations.
Writes bid specifications and all other associated tasks for bidding work out to contractors.
Manages and coordinates "as-needed" and/or periodic work that is fulfilled by contractors.
Responsible for input in the preparation of the annual budget for repairs and/or replacement of building equipment and/or components.
Attends meetings and uses multiple forms of communication, as needed, to complete tasks, projects, and initiatives.
Supervises building maintenance personnel in the absence of management.
Read and follow all Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
Performs other duties as directed.
Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.
Some University education (Equivalent to an Associate's degree) in a related discipline.
Preferred up to 8 years of directly related experience.
Ability to perform fabrication, installation, maintenance and major repairs to building equipment, accessories and components.
Chiller License, Boiler License or Universal License preferred.
Ability to assist in training and supervision of others in the use of building equipment and components.
Ability to safely work autonomously.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to wear proper PPE when required.
Ability to work full-time, on-site Monday through Friday, some possible on-call duties to be expected.
