Director of Electrical Engineering (Utility, Telecom & EV Charging Infrastructure)
We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead and grow engineering services across utility, telecommunications, and EV charging infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for technical leadership, business development, and oversight of engineering delivery, with a focus on transmission & distribution systems, substations, and grid-connected charging infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts across utility, telecom, and EV charging infrastructure markets
- Identify and secure new opportunities related to transmission, distribution, substations, and charging infrastructure deployment
- Build and maintain relationships with utilities, developers, contractors, and infrastructure partners
- Support proposals and RFP responses, including technical approach, scope development, and resource planning
- Provide technical oversight for electrical design, system studies, and infrastructure integration
- Oversee engineering for EV charging projects, including utility coordination, load analysis, and service design
- Review and approve engineering deliverables such as drawings, calculations, and technical reports
- Ensure projects meet quality, budget, schedule, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, and utility requirements)
- Collaborate with internal teams on project execution and delivery strategies
- Support contract administration, RFIs, and engineering change management
- Mentor engineering staff and support technical development across the team
- Drive consistency and continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering within utility, power delivery, telecom, or related infrastructure
- Strong experience with transmission, distribution, and substation systems
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure, power distribution, or utility interconnection projects preferred
- Background in business development, proposals, and client relationship management
- Knowledge of protection systems and control/integration engineering
- Familiarity with industry software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYME, PLS-CADD, etc.)
- Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards
