Field Service Manager
Job Description
The Field Service Manager diagnoses and resolves complex field-installed system issues while leading a regional team across multiple locations. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting with coordination of nationwide field service personnel and cross-functional partners to improve product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. The position also drives continuous improvement initiatives, develops troubleshooting documentation and training, and supports operations and growth efforts across the organization.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot field-installed system issues using established problem-solving methods, including hands-on field diagnosis and coordination with nationwide field service personnel.
Lead problem-solving initiatives from issue identification through solution development, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, field service, supply chain, and quality teams as needed.
Implement solutions and establish clear control plans to mitigate future occurrences, ensuring solutions are communicated across all applicable functional groups.
Develop detailed troubleshooting documentation and deliver training to support field service teams and customers, ensuring consistent and effective issue resolution.
Lead strategies for continuous cost and quality improvement programs, focusing on enhancing product reliability and service efficiency.
Support customer escalations internally and externally, ensuring timely, professional, and effective resolution of critical issues.
Support the resolution of product quality issues in cooperation with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other appropriate functional groups.
Support operations in company growth and improvement efforts, including leading and implementing first article inspections and quality tests.
Participate on cross-functional project teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Field Service, to maintain and improve products and services.
Contribute to the optimization of product sourcing options, component and build costs, and manufacturing strategies to improve overall operational performance.
Oversee and coordinate regional field service activities as a regional manager, including travel within the assigned territory from Asheville to Concord to Columbia using a company vehicle.
Ensure field work, including installation, repair, and service, is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and customer expectations.
Provide supervision and guidance to field personnel, promoting best practices in troubleshooting, installation, concrete-related work, and customer service.
Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively during field service, installation, and construction-related tasks.
Perform and oversee work in demanding environments, including concrete construction and finishing, manhole access, and other challenging field conditions.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in field service with a strong focus on troubleshooting and repair of field-installed systems.
Hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose complex system issues in the field.
Experience in installation, service, and repair work, including coordination with remote or nationwide field service teams.
Strong project management abilities to lead problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise field personnel and regional operations.
Solid understanding of product quality concepts, including first article inspections and quality testing.
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, R&D, purchasing, and field service teams.
Customer service skills to manage and resolve customer escalations in a professional and timely manner.
Experience with construction, concrete work, concrete finishing, and concrete formwork in field environments.
Ability to safely use power tools and hand tools in construction and service settings.
Capability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks in the field.
Willingness and ability to travel Monday through Friday within the assigned region using a company truck.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a regional manager or similar leadership role overseeing field operations.
Background in construction management or coordination of construction-related activities.
Familiarity with production environments and manufacturing processes.
Strong communication skills to create clear troubleshooting documentation and deliver effective training.
Ability to contribute to cost optimization efforts, including component and build cost reduction and sourcing strategies.
Comfort working cross-functionally on project teams focused on product and process improvement.

Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based, with regular Monday through Friday travel within a regional territory that includes areas from Asheville to Concord to Columbia, using a company truck. You work in a variety of outdoor and industrial environments that can be dirty and physically demanding, including construction sites, concrete work areas, and confined spaces such as manholes that may require crawling and maneuvering in tight spaces. The position involves frequent use of power tools and hand tools, performing heavy lifting, and working around active construction and production operations. You should be prepared for variable weather conditions and job sites where safety procedures and appropriate work attire, including protective gear, are essential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
