Job Title: Lead Electrical Superintendent/ MEP Specialist
Job Description
The Lead Electrical Superintendent / MEP Specialist oversees electrical construction activities for large data center projects across multiple U.S. locations. This role focuses on switchgear and UPS systems, power distribution, and overall MEP coordination while leveraging strong computer skills and construction management tools to keep projects on schedule, safe, and compliant. The position requires extensive field presence on active job sites and regular travel between projects.
Responsibilities
Thoroughly understand the overall project scope, schedule, and key milestones for each data center site.
Assist in maintaining and updating the project schedule daily using Touchplan or similar scheduling tools.
Collaborate with the Project Scheduler and Project Manager to develop and manage progress schedules, including detailed two-week look-ahead schedules.
Prepare, maintain, and distribute accurate daily logs in Procore to document site activities, progress, and issues.
Coordinate and schedule all required inspections, ensuring timely completion and compliance with project requirements.
Prepare agendas for regular construction meetings and actively participate to address issues, progress, and next steps.
Enforce site safety standards and procedures, including security protocols and visitor access control.
Monitor and enforce quality and workmanship standards for all electrical and MEP installations and finished products.
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Site Utilization Plan to optimize material laydown, equipment placement, and site logistics.
Maintain a detailed phone log and other project communication records as needed.
Prepare pre-punch list items and support the punch list process to ensure project closeout quality.
Work closely with the Project Site Engineer to ensure all pertinent project information, drawings, and documentation are accurately loaded and maintained in Procore.
Provide site safety training, conduct weekly tool talks, and consistently enforce safety compliance on the project site.
Secure and manage any required hot work permits and ensure all related work follows established safety procedures.
Lead and supervise on-site teams, including subcontractors, to ensure work progresses according to plans, specifications, and schedules.
Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and schedules to guide field installation and troubleshooting.
Support commissioning activities for electrical and MEP systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution, HVAC, CRAH units, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical and MEP issues in the field and coordinate with project stakeholders to develop effective solutions.
Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and contractual requirements.
Essential Skills
7-10 years of experience in electrical construction, MEP, or related commercial construction roles.
Strong background in electrical systems, with experience in switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution, and substations.
Experience working on data center projects or similar mission-critical facilities.
Proven experience leading teams and supervising construction activities on active job sites.
Very strong computer skills, including the ability to work with construction management and scheduling software.
Proficiency with Procore for project documentation, daily logs, and coordination.
Ability to read and interpret construction schedules, including detailed look-ahead schedules.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
Experience with construction supervision and project management in a commercial construction environment.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and familiarity with OSHA practices and safety compliance on construction sites.
Experience coordinating and supervising subcontractors in a fast-paced construction environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Electrical background or formal training in the electrical field (preferred).
Experience as a site supervisor or in a construction management role.
Knowledge of MEP engineering concepts, including mechanical systems, HVAC, and CRAH units in data centers.
Experience with data center commissioning and start-up of electrical and mechanical systems.
Experience with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues in commercial or industrial facilities.
Familiarity with power distribution systems and substation equipment.
Data center experience is beneficial but not strictly required.
Willingness to travel between multiple project locations is helpful and strongly preferred.
Strong safety attitude and a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
General understanding of commercial construction sequencing and logistics.
Ability to work collaboratively with project schedulers, project managers, and site engineers.
Work Environment
This is a field-based, on-site role supporting large data center construction projects in locations such as Northern Virginia, Dallas (TX), Atlanta (GA), Chicago (IL), Mississippi, and other similar markets. The position requires regular travel between project sites, with company-covered travel and lodging expenses. You will work primarily on active construction sites, coordinating closely with project teams, subcontractors, and engineers in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. The role involves extensive use of construction technologies such as Procore and Touchplan, as well as frequent interaction with electrical and MEP equipment including switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, HVAC systems, CRAH units, and related infrastructure. The work schedule aligns with typical construction site hours and may require flexibility to meet project deadlines and support commissioning activities. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
