Fiber Engineer –OSP / FTTH Design
Location: Central New Jersey (Reporting to the Rahway, NJ area)

Salary Range: $75, 000 - $90, 000 DoE
Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled
Fiber Engineer with strong experience in OSP design, including conduit construction, fiber placement, and fiber splice design. This role supports fiber network builds across New Jersey and collaborates closely with field teams, construction managers, and leadership. The ideal candidate understands the full engineering lifecycle —from preliminary route design to final splice documentation —and can produce accurate, build‑ready design packages. Experience with fiber testing and analysis is a strong bonus.
Role
- Develop and produce OSP fiber designs, including conduit routing, fiber placement, and splice schematics.
- Create and update construction prints, fiber maps, splice matrices, and design packages.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure designs align with field conditions and project requirements.
- Review redlines, as‑builts, and field feedback to update engineering documentation.
- Perform route analysis, make‑ready assessments, and identify permitting or ROW impacts.
- Ensure designs comply with NESC, local codes, utility standards, and client specifications.
- Support material takeoffs, BOM creation, and project readiness for assigned work zones.
- (Bonus) Assist with fiber testing review, OTDR trace interpretation, and loss analysis.
- Provide regular reporting on design progress, risks, and deliverables.
What Will Catch Our Eye
- 3+ years of experience in fiber engineering, OSP design, or FTTH network planning.
- Strong understanding of conduit construction, fiber placement methods, and splice design.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber maps, splice documentation, and utility records.
- Experience producing design packages for ISPs, utilities, or engineering firms.
- Familiarity with make‑ready, permitting, and utility coordination.
- Knowledge of OSP construction standards, safety practices, and quality control.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with fiber testing, OTDR analysis, or power meter results is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally throughout New Jersey.
