Job Title: HVAC Supervisor
Job Description
The HVAC Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the HVAC department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role blends advanced technical expertise with hands-on leadership, project coordination, and administrative responsibilities to support reliable building operations and strong customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Assign, schedule, and coordinate daily work for HVAC technicians and installers to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of projects.
Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and performance evaluation for HVAC staff to build technical capability and support professional growth.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor work progress, verify quality, and ensure adherence to company standards and project specifications.
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex HVAC issues that field technicians are unable to resolve independently, providing advanced technical support as needed.
Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance, reduce downtime, and extend system lifespan.
Review project blueprints, scopes of work, and technical specifications to confirm accurate execution and alignment with design intent.
Oversee inventory control for HVAC parts, tools, and equipment, including ordering, tracking, and optimizing stock levels.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of work orders, maintenance schedules, inspections, and compliance documentation.
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and local building codes on all HVAC-related activities.
Ensure all technicians maintain required licenses and certifications and that documentation remains current and compliant.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to coordinate HVAC work with broader building maintenance and construction activities.
Support commercial HVAC service operations, including repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a corporate building environment.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as an HVAC technician, including at least 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
Strong hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
Demonstrated proficiency in HVAC troubleshooting, particularly for complex mechanical and electrical issues in commercial environments.
Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical wiring, and building automation systems (BAS).
Solid understanding of commercial maintenance and building maintenance practices related to HVAC equipment and services.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex system failures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, contractors, technicians, and internal management.
Organizational skills with proficiency in scheduling, inventory management, and using basic computer software for reporting and documentation.
Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, scopes of work, and technical specifications.
Commitment to enforcing and following OSHA safety regulations and local building codes in all HVAC operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (CFC).
Valid state HVAC Mechanical License or Journeyman/Master License.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Experience leading and supervising HVAC teams in a commercial building environment.
Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) for monitoring and controlling HVAC operations.
Experience with commercial HVAC service, including preventive maintenance programs and emergency repairs.
Ability to maintain accurate records, work orders, and compliance documentation.
Professional demeanor and ability to interact daily with corporate personnel in a high-visibility setting.

Work Environment
This role is based on-site at corporate office buildings in Baltimore, working within a commercial facility environment. The position involves frequent movement through mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and office spaces, as well as hands-on work with HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and building automation systems. Standard business hours are typical for most activities, with flexibility required at times to address urgent maintenance needs or system issues. A professional and presentable appearance is expected each day to align with the corporate setting and frequent face-to-face interactions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Towson, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $40.87/hr.
