Responsibilities
The Lead Irrigation Technician will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems with a strong commitment to quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and water efficiency. This role requires hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This is a full-time year-round (union) position.
Install, inspect, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems, including valves, controllers, drip lines, and sprinkler heads.
Perform system startups, winterizations, and seasonal adjustments.
Recommend efficiency improvements.
Diagnose and identify issues within the system, above and below ground.
Read and interpret blueprints, irrigation plans, and specifications.
Ensure all work meets industry standards and company quality guidelines.
Communicate professionally with clients and team members regarding project status, recommendations, and service needs.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
Operate tools, machinery, and service vehicles safely and responsibly, including underground.
Qualifications
3 plus years of professional irrigation experience required.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Spanish speakers encouraged to apply.
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and related technologies.
Ability to diagnose and repair complex irrigation issues.
Familiarity with major brands (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Weathermatic).
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Backflow certification (preferred but not required).
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent high-quality work.
Good knowledge of trenchers, multi-meters, wire locators, ditchers and pipe sizing are also essential.
