Position Overview
The Technician I is an entry-level role designed for individuals with little to no experience (up to one year) in structured cabling. Technicians will learn and develop the skills required to be a contributing member of a technical team while working under supervision on commercial projects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Install work area outlets for:
Floor (monuments)
Modular furniture (surface mount boxes)
Walls (box eliminators)
Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods
Route cable through modular furniture
Perform pre-termination procedures:
Organizing, forming, and dressing cables
Determining proper cable length and slack
Labeling cables accurately
Properly suspend and support cable using:
Cable tray, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems
Build and outfit closets:
Mount/install backboards, racks, patch panels, cross-connects, fiber optic hardware
Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as required
Perform fire-stopping procedures:
Install sleeves
Pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations
Terminate low-voltage devices
Complete all required company paperwork accurately and on time:
Timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, etc.
Adhere to all company, customer, safety, and industry quality standards
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Tools
Technicians must have basic hand tools, including:
Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
Drywall saw
Torpedo level
Tape measure
Snips (with belt sheath)
Pliers (needle nose and channel locks)
Hammer
Wrench set
Cable stripper
Flashlight
Gloves
Top Skills & Experience
Low-voltage cabling and wiring
Structured cabling installation
Color codes and cable terminations
J-hooks and cable support systems
Telecom and data center environments
Fiber optic cable handling and splicing
CAT5/CAT6 installation and termination
Rack assembly, rack and stack, ladder rack installation
Cable testing and troubleshooting
CCTV and security systems (a plus)
Qualifications
0-1 year of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage systems preferred
Willingness to learn and work in a team environment
Ability to follow safety standards and job-site procedures
Reliable transportation and ability to work on-site

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fayetteville, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
