Job Description
This technician will support an existing team from a MAC (move, add, change) and new‑build perspective. While much of the infrastructure is transitioning to VoIP, this role will primarily support emergency and classified hardlines that will remain on copper. Daily responsibilities include responding to trouble tickets and assisting the MAC team with various initiatives during downtime.
Fiber experience is a plus, but training can be provided. This role is set up as a long‑term contract with a strong potential for extension based on performance.
Work will take place across multiple sites in the local area, with the majority of time spent at the main campus.
The technician should be able to handle trouble tickets related to disconnects, new POTS lines, and DMARC/communications room tasks. They must be capable of identifying copper circuits, client circuits, and provider circuits, and have experience with legacy telephony. Tools used include butt sets, tone generators, multimeters, and probes. The role also involves supporting VoIP installations, emergency service lines, elevator lines, and provider telephony lines.
The individual will cross‑train on POTS lines, phone systems, and general telephony. During slower periods, they will assist with MAC work and structured cabling.
Top Skills
5+ years of experience in the cable/phone industry, including legacy telephony, POTS lines, DMARC, copper circuits, and VoIP.
Experience running, installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low‑voltage cable/copper (Cat5 and Cat6).
Reliable and comfortable in a client‑facing environment.
Additional emphasis: Customer‑facing skills, DMARC experience, and strong troubleshooting abilities on POTS/legacy copper lines.

Work Environment
The work is performed in commercial environments, typically in teams of 2-3. The team culture is supportive and collaborative. Standard schedule is Monday-Friday on day shift, with occasional flexibility needed for maintenance windows. Typical hours are 6:00am-2:00pm or 7:00am-3:00pm .

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
